Knitted vascular prosthesis with collagen / patch

The wrapped vascular prosthesis is made using a specially developed knitting technique from polyester silk. A continuous layer of chemically modified bovine collagen is applied to the surface of the prosthesis, which facilitates healing of the vascular prosthesis and ensures the impermeability of the wall at the time of implantation.

During surgery, foreign material in the form of a vascular prosthesis or vascular patch has been permanently inserted into your body. The presence of foreign material increases the risk of infection – do not underestimate any infection, even a trivial one. Always contact your doctor.

In the event of an acute accident, injury or planned medical procedure or surgery, tell the doctor that you have a prosthetic blood vessel or patch in your body and it is up to the doctor’s discretion whether to give you antibiotics.

Another risk is the possibility of “kinking” of the prosthesis (i.e. narrowing or closure of the prosthesis) and thus closure of the prosthesis by a clot. The most susceptible areas are the groin and the knee. This condition will present with symptoms that were present before surgery, or even more pronounced, and is a reason to see a doctor immediately.

Which environmental influences the patient must not be exposed to:

No specific restrictions, perhaps restrictions more related to the patient’s other illnesses and general recommendations, e.g. to keep exposure to infectious environments to a minimum.

What precautions should the patient follow:

If you have a prosthesis in your lower limbs, it is advisable to avoid prolonged squatting or kneeling in a prone position, as well as sitting with bent knees.

When to see a doctor:

In case you experience a deterioration of blood circulation in your limbs, redness or bulging over the area where the prosthesis is sewn on, or if any other complications occur.

Composition of vascular prosthesis or patch:

Polyester, glycerin, demineralized water, bovine collagen (derived from bovine skin) in medical grade.
